Prosperity Preaching

There is a time to give and a time to refrain from giving. Everything is sequenced to align with God's will and order. Prosperity preachers are motivated by the foundation of the "reap what you sow" principle (Galatians 6:7-9). It says, whatsoever you sow, that is what you will reap. The key word in this scripture is "whatsoever" (love, help, wisdom, and money etc.). Pastors give these ministers a platform to teach the importance of giving and motivate people to sow financial seed to advance God's kingdom. On the other hand, God is turning the focus of His people back to Him. He is releasing miracles in such a way that He alone gets His glory. Did Jesus ask the blind man for an offering, or the woman with the issue of blood? What about the man with the withered hand? No, He was motivated by compassion to meet their need. God was glorified and we still hear their life stories today. When it comes to giving, you can't afford to get caught up in your emotions, but be prompted by the Holy Spirit, not a man. Unpaid vows are one of the causes that many people struggle to get ahead. Believers with good intentions, vow a vow, but are unable to pay. Good intentions don't cancel God's word. Ecclesiastes 5:5,6 warns It is better not to make a vow, than to vow and not pay it. God will destroy the works of your hands. He may be prompting someone else to give the amount a preacher is asking. if you don't have it, don't feel condemned. Obedience is better than sacrifice ( 1 Samuel 15:22 ). Just give whatever the Lord places on your heart and He will bless you. He has more respect for a widow's mite, than a $1000 offering (Mark 12:41). Do yourself a favor and practice listening for His voice. You will avoid so much confusion, if you obey when you hear Him speak. The word says, God takes great pleasure in the prosperity of His people. Believers are supposed to possess the riches of the land. The key is not to allow the freedom that comes with being rich to turn you away from the Creator or your purpose. Ask Him to help you practice good stewardship over what you already have and He will increase you more and more.
